Terms of use

Last updated :

Svenska App is free and sells nothing today, so this document governs use of the service. If a paid offer ever exists, terms of sale will be added and you will be told before any payment.

The service

Svenska App is an online Swedish course published by Mathieu Guicheteau EI (SIRET 890 467 723 00031, RCS Paris 890 467 723).

Every lesson, exercise, guide and sheet is available free, with no account and no payment method. An account only exists to save your progress and to use the features between learners.

Your account

The account is personal. You are responsible for access to the Google mailbox that signs you in.

Choose a username and a bio that harm nobody. We may remove a username that is abusive, misleading or impersonates somebody, and suspend an account used to harass other learners.

You can delete your account at any time by writing to hej@svenska.app.

The Svenska Plus subscription

The lessons, the exercises, the review and the certificates stay free. Svenska Plus is an optional subscription that adds the conversation tutor, generated exercises, the settling-in-Sweden paths and the mock exams.

It costs 9,99 € a month or 79 € a year, all taxes included. VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French tax code. It renews automatically at the end of each period until you stop it.

You can cancel at any time from your profile, in one click, with nothing to write and no reason to give. Cancelling stops the renewal: you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, and nothing is taken afterwards.

There is no refund of the period in progress, and none pro rata. The reason is simple and we would rather write it down: the tutor calls a language model on every message, and that call is billed to us by usage from the first conversation. A period started is a period used.

One exception, the thirty-day guarantee. If, in the thirty days after your first payment, you have had no real session at all, meaning no message sent to the tutor, no lesson finished and no review session recorded, write to us and we refund that month in full. We check those three things in your account before refunding, and we tell you what we found. Once any one of them has happened the guarantee no longer applies, for the reason given in the paragraph above.

Immediate performance and the right of withdrawal: access opens the moment you pay. At checkout you expressly ask for that immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose your fourteen-day right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed, under article L221-28 3° of the French consumer code. Without that request, access would only open after fourteen days.

Payment is handled by Stripe. No card detail reaches us. Your invoices are available from the customer portal linked in your profile.

If the service becomes unavailable for a long stretch through our own fault, write to us: we do not keep money for something we have stopped providing.

Certificates of completion

Finishing a level course gives you a certificate of completion to download. It states one thing: you finished that course on Svenska App.

It is not a diploma and not an official certification. Our courses are aligned with the CEFR levels, which is a reference framework and not a certifying body. A recognised Swedish qualification comes from the exams built for that, such as Swedex or the Swedish national tests.

Expected use

Use the service to learn. Do not try to disrupt it, work around the email sending limits, extract the content wholesale, or pass yourself off as somebody else.

The rankings rest on trust. Manufacturing points by automated means breaks no law, but we may remove an account that does it from the leaderboard.

What we promise, and what we do not

Real care goes into the accuracy of the lessons, and reported mistakes are corrected. We promise no results all the same: learning a language mostly depends on you.

The service is provided as is, with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. It is a free service, maintained by one person.

Nothing here limits your right to hold us responsible for harm caused by gross negligence or intent, nor the rights the law gives you as a consumer.

Content

The lessons and guides are ours (see the legal notice). The username and bio you write stay yours; by filling them in you simply allow us to show them to other learners as part of the service.

Changes and closure

These terms may change; the date at the top gives the latest version. An important change will be announced.

If the service were ever to close, you would be told early enough to retrieve your data.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In a dispute an amicable solution will be sought first; failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the consumer protection rules that let you bring a claim where you live.
