A minute and a half: how the course works, and how the conversation stays in Swedish.
This is what ten minutes a day looks like
No trial, no card, no account. You open it and you are in a lesson — the streak, the words and the level are yours from the first one.
You are not going all that way to live in English
- You rehearse a sentence at the checkout, and the cashier answers in English before you finish it.
- Your colleagues switch to English when you join, and switch back when you leave.
- The letter from Skatteverket is in Swedish, and Google Translate is not going to explain it.
- You land in a few weeks and your Swedish is still hej, tack and a hopeful smile.
- Your SFI place is months away, and every month without Swedish is a month standing slightly outside your own life.
Nothing here is a lack of intelligence or effort. The apps you tried taught you to translate isolated words; nobody in Sweden speaks in isolated words. What closes the gap is short daily contact with the Swedish that is actually spoken around you, and a system that brings back what you are about to forget.
What ten minutes a day gets you
A CEFR-aligned course from zero to B1, written for adults with a job, a move to organise and no spare hours.

Ordering fika, the checkout, the doctor's reception, the office meeting, the parents' group chat. Dialogue exercises put you in the room.
Ear training from day one
Every word is spoken aloud. Dictation exercises make you write what you hear, and pronunciation exercises listen back to you.

From "Hej" to reading the news: 80 free units up to B1
Five free levels aligned with the CEFR framework, from the first words to B1, each ending in a review that replays what you got wrong, and at least two lessons in every unit. The sixth, B2, comes with Plus.

Write imperfect Swedish. The answer comes back in Swedish anyway, and the correction appears underneath without the conversation stopping.

Everything above costs nothing and needs no account to start: the whole course to B1, and the whole dictionary above it. Svenska Plus adds what the course cannot give you on its own: somebody to speak Swedish with, and the level after B1.

Questions people ask before starting
- Is Svenska App really free?
- Yes. The 80 units of the course to B1, their 2 412 exercises and the whole 5 642-word dictionary are free, with no ads, no card and no account. Svenska Plus, at 9,99 € a month, adds a conversation tutor, the B2 level and material written on top of the course. Everything already free stays free, and the dictionary stays free above B1 too.
- Do I have to create an account?
- No. Your progress is saved in your browser, on your device. Signing in with Google is optional and only exists to sync that progress between devices, and to unlock friends and challenges.
- I haven't moved yet. Is it worth starting now?
- That is the best moment. The months before a move are the only ones where ten minutes a day costs you nothing, and arriving with the Intro section behind you changes the first weeks completely. The same applies if you are coming for a season rather than for good.
- I'm waiting for an SFI place. Is this a replacement?
- No. It's what you do while you wait, and alongside it once you start. SFI gives you a classroom and a teacher; Svenska App gives you daily repetition and the vocabulary you meet outside the classroom.
- What level can I reach?
- From absolute beginner to B1, the level most employers and further studies ask for. Five CEFR sections with a consolidation exam at the end of each.
- How long does it take?
- With 10–20 minutes a day, most learners get through the Intro section in a few weeks. B1 is a matter of months, not weeks, and anyone promising otherwise is selling something.
- Can I use it on my phone?
- Yes. It's a Progressive Web App: add it to your home screen on iOS or Android and it behaves like an app, no app store needed.
Preparing for the citizenship test?
Medborgarskapsprovet is a different subject from this course, so it has a section of its own. What UHR has settled, with the source and the date behind each claim, and what UHR has not decided, said plainly instead of guessed at. The 14 chapters of the free official material, with the Swedish words each one needs, and 112 practice questions written here. No pass mark is shown, because UHR has published none.
