- Can I register for the citizenship test myself?
- No. UHR states that Migrationsverket decides who may take the test, and the result is passed back to Migrationsverket afterwards (UHR, questions and answers, 26 August 2026). Without a letter from Migrationsverket, preparing is possible but registering is not.
- What is the pass mark for medborgarskapsprovet?
- There is no published pass mark. UHR used the sitting of 15 August 2026 to calibrate the test and said the results would be published later in the autumn (SVT Nyheter, 15 August 2026). Any site stating a figure today is stating something UHR has not.
- How long does the test last, and how many questions does it have?
- The sitting of 15 August 2026 had 60 questions, and that figure is sourced for that sitting only (SVT Nyheter, 15 August 2026). The length of a sitting has not been published. The ninety-minute figure circulating on commercial sites is confirmed by no official source we found.
- When is the next sitting, and where?
- Not published. UHR said it would announce the dates and the cities in the autumn of 2026. We will not guess at them here, because a wrong date on this subject is read by somebody whose citizenship file depends on it.
- What does the test cost?
- The regulation sets 2 000 kronor per sitting from 2027, with an exemption for stateless people holding refugee status or a travel document issued by a Swedish authority. The sitting of 15 August 2026 was free, and nothing has been published for sittings before 2027.
- Can I take the test in English, or in my own language?
- No. UHR states that the test is in Swedish, written on paper, with multiple-choice questions of four options of which one is correct, and that the material and the test are in Swedish only (UHR, 17 August 2026).
- Is the Swedish language test in force as well?
- Not yet. The civics test applies from 6 June 2026. The reading and listening test in Swedish is expected from 1 October 2027, or earlier if the government decides and the authorities can deliver it, and the speaking and writing test has no date at all: the law says it starts on a day the government decides (Prop. 2025/26:175).
- Are these the real questions from the test?
- No. Every question here was written for this app from a public source that is named on the question itself, and no text from Sverige i fokus is reproduced. The five example questions UHR publishes are linked rather than copied.
- My Swedish is not good enough to read the book. What then?
- That is the usual situation, and it is the part a translated quiz cannot fix. The book is in Swedish, the test is in Swedish, and reading is what takes months. The course this app is built around starts at zero and runs to B1, which is why the citizenship section sits next to it rather than inside it.
