The short answer
Use någon with a person or singular en noun, något with a singular ett noun, and några with plural nouns: någon bok, något problem, några frågor. On their own, någon means someone and något means something. The matching negative forms are ingen, inget and inga.
One family following en, ett and plural
Någon idé goes with an en noun, något svar with an ett noun, and några minuter with a plural. The choice follows the same gender and number system used elsewhere in Swedish.
If that distinction is not automatic yet, revisit the Swedish en or ett guide before adding indefinite forms.
When the noun disappears
Har någon ringt? asks whether someone called. Vill du ha något? offers something. Några stannade kvar can mean that a few people stayed when the context already identifies them.
English translation shifts with context, but the Swedish form continues to signal common singular, neuter singular or plural.
Ingen, inget and inga express absence
Jag har ingen bil, Jag har inget körkort and Jag har inga frågor state that none exists. A phrase with inte någon is possible, but the dedicated negative form is often more direct.
Review all three in your vocabulary practice with a complete noun. Learning någon alone hides the agreement you actually need.
Nån and nåt in informal Swedish
In speech and casual messages, någon often becomes nån and något becomes nåt. Några usually keeps its full shape. Recognising these reductions makes fast dialogue easier to follow.
Write the standard forms first, then train your ear on the short forms with the Swedish listening ladder.
