Your first Swedish income tax declaration

A pre-filled declaration still needs checking. Income, bank details, supporting records and the deadline remain your responsibility.

The short answer

For the 2026 declaration covering 2025 income, the ordinary deadline was 4 May. The return is available through Mina sidor and can be approved using e-identification or, when no changes are needed, personal codes. Check employers, income, deductions and bank details because pre-filled information can be corrected, and keep supporting evidence for six years.

Who must file

If Skatteverket sends you an income tax declaration, you must submit it even when every field appears pre-filled.

Some people must file without receiving a form, depending on residence and taxable income.

A correct address matters, so check the Skatteverket moving notification.

Check before approving

Compare pre-filled income with payslips, benefit statements and other records.

If an employer or payer reported the wrong amount, first ask that organisation to send a correction.

If it does not correct the information, update the declaration yourself and retain the evidence.

Online filing and personal codes

The Inkomstdeklaration 1 service uses e-identification and displays the latest registered information.

If you only approve the return without additions or changes, codes sent with the declaration may also work.

Making a change or adding an attachment generally requires e-identification.

After submission

Keep evidence for six years and save the submission confirmation.

Read the final tax statement: a refund goes to the registered account, while tax due must reach the tax account by its deadline.

Also organise prescriptions and pharmacy proxies, then return to the inquiry into independent-school owners. The SvenskaApp Society path prepares administrative Swedish.
