To remember Swedish food vocabulary, group it by use: frukost, lunch, middag and mellanmål. Keep the article with each noun, then make a sentence with äta, dricka, köpa or laga. Mat means food or a meal depending on context, while livsmedel refers to food products.
Use breakfast as your first map
Start with bröd, smör, ost, ägg, yoghurt, kaffe, te and mjölk. Attach every word to what you actually eat rather than a generic picture.
