The short answer
Core Swedish transport words include buss, tåg, tunnelbana, spårvagn, hållplats, station, spår and biljett. Åka describes travel in a vehicle, gå can mean walking or a scheduled service leaving, and byta means changing or making a connection.
Choose the right form of transport
Say åka buss, ta tåget, gå till stationen. Tunnelbana is the Stockholm metro, while spårvagn means tram.
