The short answer
On 7 September 2026, the Swedish government appointed an inquiry into oversight of yrkeshögskolan, or higher vocational education. Its focus is provider quality, correct use of grants and stronger action against unreliable or criminal operators. Current programmes and admission decisions do not change simply because the inquiry has started.
Growth has raised the stakes
YH has expanded and a larger share of provision now comes from independent organisers. The government argues that supervision must keep pace.
The inquiry covers teaching quality, public money and the ability to identify operators that should not receive funding.

The investigator will consider better inspection powers and clearer insight into the organisations running programmes.

Current students are not suddenly displaced
An inquiry does not cancel an approved programme or rewrite an admission letter.
Applicants should still confirm MYH approval, dates, curriculum and entry requirements for the specific course.
For an English-labelled programme, ask which language is used in lectures, assessment and LIA placements.
Due diligence before applying
Compare employment outcomes, LIA partners, concrete skills and the living costs of the study location.
Speak with former students and a sector employer if possible. Marketing copy cannot show the quality of daily supervision.
